Luxury Vinyl Flooring

What’s the difference between luxury vinyl plank and luxury vinyl tile?

Luxury vinyl flooring has much to offer the homeowner. From functionality to looks to a great price, vinyl flooring can deliver. But now you have a decision to make, tile or plank? What’s the difference? At Inspiration Flooring & Design Centre, we can answer your question and give you some guidance.

Luxury Vinyl Tile

Luxury Vinyl Tile, also known as LVT, is made of a plastic composite tile at its core. It comes in a hardened tile format of various sizes. It can imitate stone, tile, or brickwork easily. The tile is stiffer than a plank and a little harder to the touch.

Luxury Vinyl Plank

Luxury Vinyl Plank, also known as LVP, is made of plastic composite wood at its core. It comes in long strips of varying width and lengths. It is more flexible than LVT and molds more closely to the subfloor. You can get LVP to look like any wood species, with all the hardwood details in it.

Qualities of both

Both LVP and LVT are similar in that they are both constructed of PVC, a standard construction material. PVC is completely waterproof, so the core of both LVP and LVT are completely resilient against water, and will not curl, ripple, or warp when exposed to it.

Which do you prefer?

The only real difference between LVP and LVT is the shape and look of the vinyl. So do you want a wood-looking floor? Or a tile with grout to add to the appearance? Whatever you choose, luxury vinyl can deliver on your looks.
